Modern Komfort thoughtfully selects each of the brands and manufacturers that we carry. While we stock some of our most popular items, some items are "made to order" and will be shipped to you directly from our suppliers. This approach saves time, money, resources and has a lower environmental impact since items are not being shipped twice.
Standard Shipping Within Canada
We offer shipping to your door on most areas within Canada for many of our products. Depending on the supplier and your location, your order will ship via Canada Post, Fedex, UPS or other 3rd party carriers. For large items, your products will often be delivered by a local delivery carrier in your area. If your order includes multiple products from multiple manufacturers, you may receive separate shipments. Items that qualify for white glove shipping will give you the option to select white glove at checkout. Smaller items and decor do not qualify for white glove.
Please note that standard delivery is to your door step only. This means that the delivery driver does not bring the item into your home or assemble it. If you live in a building it would be brought into the lobby only. Please ensure you have a plan to bring it to its desired destination in your home and that it will fit through all doorways, stairwells, elevators, etc.
White glove service is available in most areas and includes unpacking, minor assembly (adding legs to sofas) and removal of debris. Should you require white glove service, please select this option on at checkout. Additional charges may apply for rural locations, buildings, orders requiring significant assembly, or any other complex deliveries. Please contact us with any questions.
Delivery to remote or rural parts of Canada may include additional charges that are not calculated during your original online purchase. If there is going to be an additional shipping charge due to your location, Modern Komfort will notify you of the cost prior to processing your payment and ensure you want to proceed.
PO Box addresses are not acceptable for delivery.
Certain products available at Modern Komfort are too heavy or require special handling and have to be shipped via a 3rd party freight carrier. If your purchase is delivered via Freight, you will be contacted by the Freight company by telephone 1-2 days prior to delivery (typically during Monday to Saturday business hours), to schedule a delivery appointment. You will need to be present to sign for and accept the item. If you are not present at the time agreed to, you may be subject to additional charges.
We do ship to Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut and other remote and rural areas but additional shipping fees often apply. Please contact us prior to placing an order to obtain a shipping quote. If you place an order without obtaining a shipping quote, we will contact you with shipping fees via email prior to shipping your product(s). You will need to respond to this email indicating that we can proceed with the order.
We do ship to the US (lower 48)! We do not ship to Hawaii and Alaska.Once you go through the checkout process, you will receive a shipping quote. You will be responsible for paying import duties, brokerage fees and current China tariffs to the USA if applicable. Note that not all items are subject to duties and tariffs. Please note that customers are responsible for return shipping to our Fredericton, New Brunswick location.
Some items are already in stock while others are shipped directly from the manufacturer. We make every effort to ensure that your merchandise reaches you accurately and expediently. In-stock items are usually shipped within 48 - 72 hours of receiving the order. Your merchandise should then arrive within 5 to 14 business days. If the product(s) is not in stock, we will inform you within 72 hours of placing your order of the expected lead time and our delivery plans. If an item is out of stock you will have the option to cancel your order at that time.
All items have specific manufacturer lead times that can range anywhere from 1-16 weeks, although some special order items may take longer. Because these lead times change on a regular basis, please contact us for specific lead times. Lead times are estimates only. Manufacturers may indicate longer than stated lead times after orders are placed, subject to demand and availability. Delivery dates are good faith estimates only and are quoted in "business days"; this does not include weekends and statutory holidays.
Quick shipping is available upon special request for some in-stock items. This option may involve additional costs, therefore we ask that you contact us for more information to see if your particular request is possible and to determine what additional costs may be associated.
We will ship backordered items as soon as they are back in stock. In the event of a delay, we will notify you by mail, email or phone.
You are required to inspect the packaging and items immediately upon receipt and indicate on the packaging and/or paperwork if there is visible damage. You may choose to refuse delivery of the item(s), especially if the damage appears severe. Please note that freight carriers will deny any damage claims if it is not noted on the delivery waybill at the time of delivery, before the carrier leaves. Please note that for items that include free shipping, customers will be responsible for round-trip shipping costs on returns that are not damaged or incorrect. Customers are responsible for all return shipping costs should an item be returned. Please see our returns policy for more information.
Changing a Delivery Address
Once an order has shipped, any change of address will be subject to a $50 fee plus applicable taxes. This is due to a minimum change of address fee charged by nearly all courier and freight companies. Billing information will also need to be re-verified if you are changing your delivery address.
