Returns & Exchanges

Customer satisfaction is of utmost importance to the team at Modern Komfort. We really do make every effort to select and sell high-quality products from reputable brands. We also keep up-to-date information on all our products so that you may make informed purchases. However, we understand that you may change your mind and need to return an item. To that end, we have made our returns options as clear as possible.

You may return your item(s) within 14 days of receipt for a refund of the purchase price excluding shipping and handling costs.

All returns require pre-authorization, so please contact us to receive instructions prior to sending back your merchandise.

Items must be:

  • Postmarked within 14 days of receipt
  • Unused
  • Unassembled (if applicable)
  • In their original condition
  • In their original packaging, complete with all tags, instructions, and inserts - we do not accept returns otherwise
  • We also ask that a copy of your receipt be included with the item(s) your are returning. After the return is received and processed, you will be refunded the purchase price of the item(s) (less shipping costs) in the same form in which you paid for it, please allow 1-2 weeks processing time. You are responsible for all shipping costs associated with returning the item to our Ottawa or Fredericton locations. All returns require pre-authorization, so please contact us to receive instructions prior to sending back your merchandise. 
  • All returns are subject to a 15% restocking fee. 

    There are some exceptions to our 14-day Return Policy:

      1. Custom, made-to-order items are considered final sale and cannot be cancelled, returned or refunded unless damaged upon receipt. This can include items where you've selected color, fabric, upholstery, finish, material, size and/or configuration. It also includes some handmade items;
      2. Other than in the event of a severe product defect, sofas and furniture over 75 lbs are considered final sale.
      3. Floor models and clearance section items are final sale.
      4. We do not accept returns on exterior lights, as we do not sell these from our storefront. 
      5. Although Modern Komfort does provide free shipping to many locations, the actual shipping charges from your initial order will be deducted from your refund amount.
      6. Customers are responsible for return shipping to our Fredericton, NB store.
      7. Art pieces are final sale (unless damaged or defective);
      8. Opened and installed lighting cannot be returned, unless damaged or not working, as this voids the warranty;
      9. Some large commercial or industrial orders. We will notify you in advance if this applies to your order.

    Custom Products

    Some of the products available from Modern Komfort are custom made-to-order and our manufacturers offer numerous options to fit your needs. Such items typically include furniture, where you can select color, fabric, upholstery, finish, material, size and/or configuration.

    Damaged Products

    Please contact us within 24 hours if your order arrives damaged (this time limit is required for insurance purposes). We will work with you to ensure a satisfactory conclusion. Most circumstances, your item will be replaced or repaired depending on the specific issue.

    We ask that you inspect the packaging and items immediately upon receipt and indicate on the packaging and/or paperwork if there is visible damage. You may also choose to refuse delivery of the item(s) if the damage appears severe. If you do not make note of visable damage on the package we cannot be responsible for product damage and will not be able to complete a refund. 

    If your package arrives and looks severely damaged, you can refuse shippment. In this case, please notify us immediately and we will make arrangements to have a replacement product sent to you (depending on stock availability) or provide a full refund. 

    If you receive a package that is intact but the contents are damaged, please keep the original packaging and contact us immediately. 

    In order to process your claim, please send us up to three digital photos including one photo of the box that the item shipped in, to Make sure to keep all of the original packaging material and your receipt! 

    Order Modifications & Cancellations

    Please contact us within 24 hours of placing your order should you need to cancel or modify it. If the order has already been shipped from our warehouse or the manufacturer, it is unlikely we will be able to cancel it or make changes but we will do our best to accommodate you.
